When I get heated, I tend to Punch Pow my way through words and actions. When dealing with my kids...not the most successful choice. Instead I try on Aikido continuous flowing movement with lots of figure 8's. Take the challenge, move with the challenge, then send it back out in a new direction. It's a different kind of powerful.
Start with figure 8's in the hands and arm bones. Soften the knees and allow the hips to follow the example of the arms. Now get lost as the hands and arm bones flow rise, fall, and swirl like a roller coaster all around your body. Add in ribs, legs, pelvis--all swirling rounded flowing movement with no end.
Take a moment to reflect: What in my life needs a little Aikido magic? What still needs POW energy?
