INSPIRATION:

In the Nia Technique, we use sounding and the actual words of YES and NO, to conjure up emotion, power, and will in our workouts. It's fascinating to notice how a "no" with just voice and a "no" with whole body are two different beasts.

DO:

Start with the legs in an A stance, arms crossed, and say your first no. Notice and play with different facial muscles. Now try the word no with your arms in front of your body, hands in a stop energy. Now try no with your arms slicing down by your sides. Continue to explore shapes and movements as you experiment with different nos: gentle, whisper, fake smile, rage, weak, strong. Work to find your body stance of incredible power as you NO your way into new boundaries.
